SOCIAL COMMITMENT

LIVING RESPONSIBILITY

Together for a better future

As a family owned company with a more than 70-year history, we bear a special responsibility — not only toward our employees, but also toward society. Social commitment is a core part of our values. For us, entrepreneurial success not only means growth, but also an obligation and motivation to give something back to society. That is why we invest in educational programs that give young people the best possible opportunities on tomorrow’s job market. With targeted sponsoring, we support young sporting talent and at the same time promote community and fair play. In addition, we are passionately committed to social and cultural initiatives — for a better future in Austria and all the countries in which we are represented.

SPORTS SPONSORSHIP

Unger Steel Gunners Oberwart

Our local roots in Oberwart are very important to us, that is why we have decided to promote local sport. Supported by Unger Stahlbau, the “Unger Steel Gunners Oberwart” have played continuously in Austria’s top basketball league since 1995. They won the championship in 2011, 2016, 2024 and 2025, have been runners-up seven times, and won the cup five times between 1995 and 2021. Unger employees are provided with free tickets. This gives them the opportunity to attend home games free of charge.

GETSGO Stadtschlaining

The junior basketball club GETSGO Stadtschlaining trains over 100 children and young people from more than 10 communities, creating a sporting home for young basketball talents. Girls and boys are equally supported and encouraged in their sporting development — completely free of charge.

A dedicated team of 18 coaches and supervisors ensures that the players receive the best possible support — and all on a purely voluntary basis.

Training takes place regularly in three sports halls in Stadtschlaining, Großpetersdorf and Oberschützen. GETSGO also provides after-school supervision at two partner schools — another important contribution to supporting young people both athletically and socially.

Sporting successes: several state championship and runner-up titles, ASKÖ Burgenland Team 2023, Regionality Award 2024 in the ‘Health and Social Affairs’ category.

In addition to active match operations, the club also provides its young people with further training in important areas such as refereeing, organisation at the scorer’s table or as prospective coaches.

This holistic commitment symbolises team spirit, responsibility and cohesion. We are delighted to be able to help shape the sport of basketball in our region.
